چکیده

the dynamics of multicomponent adsorption in a fixed bed adsorber is examined numerically. the dynamic model of adsorption in the packed column included axial dispersion and variable space velocity along the bed for the multicomponent adsorption adsorption the pore fluid and the solid phase are in equilibrium with a nonlinear isotherm. the numerical solution is based upon the modified lax-wendroff method. it is applied to simulate the dynamics of fixed bed adsorbers in responce to step changes and also to pulse changes in feed composition. the influence of the operating conditions and physicochemical parameters are numrically investigated on the breakthrough curves and pulse curves for xylene isomers in the liquid phase. in this procedure, the breakthrough curves for the desorption by displacement process can be successfully predicted.
